SC5K X Child Health Association

A Partnership Rooted in Community, Family, and Child Well-Being

We’re excited to officially announce a community-focused collaboration between the Sewickley Classic 5K and the Child Health Association of Sewickley (CHA) — a shared effort grounded in improving children’s lives and getting families active together.

.

Who Is the Child Health Association of Sewickley?

Founded in 1923, the Child Health Association of Sewickley is a long-standing, all-volunteer nonprofit dedicated to improving the quality of life for children throughout Western Pennsylvania. CHA’s mission is to nurture the whole child by supporting programs and services that directly address children’s emotional, physical, educational, cultural, and recreational needs. Over the past century, its members have invested in community initiatives, grants, and events that help children thrive.

Their work — from grantmaking to community events and advocacy — reflects a heart for children that stretches across generations. By supporting grassroots programs and established providers alike, CHA amplifies impact where hope and need intersect.

Why This Collaboration Matters

At its core, the Sewickley Classic 5K is about community health, family activity, and connection. We believe our neighborhood — from kids learning to run their first mile to families sharing the joy of an active morning together — deserves spaces and moments that strengthen both body and community.

Partnering with CHA aligns directly with that mission:

  • Shared Values: Both organizations care deeply about children and families — whether through active play, community engagement, or support services.

  • Mutual Impact: Our event brings families together in motion; CHA brings decades of community investments that help children and families thrive.

  • Supporting Laughlin Children’s Center: Through this collaboration and joint promotion, we’re raising awareness and support for Laughlin Children’s Center — a local nonprofit providing vital academic and clinical services to children ages 2–18 from the Sewickley area and beyond.

What This Means for the Community

Together, the Sewickley Classic and CHA are strengthening the fabric of our town by:

  • Promoting healthy, active lifestyles for families of all ages.

  • Highlighting the importance of child-enriching organizations and community-built initiatives.

  • Supporting fundraising that benefits Laughlin Children’s Center — helping to ensure children receive the resources they need to reach their full potential.

A Beloved Sewickley Tradition Since 1956

The Sewickley House Tour is a cherished biennial tradition of the Child Health Association of Sewickley—and a celebration of the beauty, history, and generosity of our community. Now entering its 41st tour, this signature event offers a rare opportunity to step inside a curated collection of private homes while supporting an important mission. More than a showcase of stunning residences, the House Tour is one of our most meaningful fundraisers, helping us provide grants to children’s charities across Western Pennsylvania. Thanks to community support, CHA distributes over $100,000 in grants annually, making a direct impact on the lives of children and families in need.
