Know Before You Go
Yes — someone else can pick up your packet on your behalf. Just make sure they bring a copy of your registration QR code from your confirmation email.
One important note: please be careful not to mix up bibs between runners. Bibs are tied to individual registrations, and swapping them can result in inaccurate race results and timing data.
Yes — race-day registration will be available starting at 7:30 AM.
Please note that race-day registration will be handled online via mobile device only, and payment must be completed electronically. Cash payments will not be accepted.
We recommend registering in advance to save time and avoid lines on race morning.
For safety reasons, dogs are not permitted on the 5K course.
However, well-trained dogs on a leash are welcome on the 1-mile fun run/walk, provided they are under full control of their owner at all times.
This policy helps protect all participants. The 5K includes larger fields, tighter packs of runners, and faster speeds — conditions that increase the risk of tripping, falls, or unexpected incidents involving pets. The 1-mile event is designed to be more relaxed and family-friendly, making it a safer environment for leashed dogs.
Yes, headphones and earbuds are allowed.
However, we strongly encourage participants to keep volume at a level that allows them to remain aware of their surroundings. Being able to hear other runners, police officers, course marshals, emergency vehicles, and course announcements is important for everyone’s safety.
Open-ear and bone-conduction style headphones are especially recommended, as they allow you to enjoy music while still hearing what’s happening around you.
Yes — strollers are allowed on the course.
For safety reasons, participants using strollers must line up at the back of the pack at the start. This helps reduce the risk of trips, collisions, and congestion during the opening moments of the race when the course is most crowded.
We also ask that stroller participants remain aware of their surroundings, follow all course marshal instructions, and exercise extra caution on turns, narrow sections, and near aid stations.
This policy allows families to participate while helping ensure a safe experience for all runners and walkers.
Yes. Free race-day parking is available at the Heritage Valley Sewickley Hospital parking garage. This is the primary and recommended parking location for the Sewickley Classic 5K. See the details on our Parking & Location Info page.
The start line and finish line are both located in War Memorial Park, 5 Blackburn Road
Sewickley, PA 15143 US
The post-race Community Festival will also take place in War Memorial Park, making it easy for runners, walkers, families, and spectators to enjoy everything in one central location.
Yes — there will be one water station located at approximately the halfway point on the course.
This provides runners and walkers a convenient opportunity to hydrate mid-race, especially important in May weather conditions. Additional water will be available at the finish line and throughout the post-race festival area in War Memorial Park.
We encourage all participants to arrive well-hydrated and to use the on-course and finish-line hydration as needed.
Yes — ample porta-potties will be available in the festival area near the start and finish lines in War Memorial Park.
Restrooms will be conveniently located so participants can access them before and after their event.
We recommend using the facilities early and allowing extra time before your start, as lines tend to peak just before race time.
No — gear check will not be available at this event.
Parking is relatively close to War Memorial Park, so we recommend leaving personal items secured in your vehicle. Please plan accordingly and bring only what you need to the start area.
The race organizers cannot be responsible for unattended personal belongings.
Yes — the time limit to complete the 5K is 60 minutes.
This allows participants of a wide range of paces to comfortably enjoy the event while also ensuring that roads can be safely reopened and volunteers and public safety personnel are not required to remain on course indefinitely.
Most walkers and runners will have no issue finishing well within this window. If you have questions about pacing, feel free to reach out — we’re happy to help.
The Sewickley Classic 5K is a rain or shine event.
The race will be held in most weather conditions. Only in the case of extreme or unsafe conditions — such as severe storms or situations that pose a risk to participants, volunteers, or staff — would the event be delayed, modified, or canceled.
If any exceptional circumstances arise, updates will be communicated promptly via email and the event’s social media channels.
